On the 28th of August, 2007 at the Beloved Community House in Binghamton,
NY, around 17 of us gathered to see pictures and hear something of the experiences of those of us from the Marist
College/beloved community team's June/July trip to Calcutta. One of the team members, Jamie Williams, filmmaker
and Marist Campus Minister, set up her computer in the Chapel with her film of children and mothers living on the street. Jorden
Eck (16), another team member, set up my computer in the adjacent EATERY with many of the pictures we
had taken looped in a continuous showing. Folks milled around at both sites. In the EATERY, team member Colin
Larnerd (16) explained the pictures, introducing to family and friends marginalized mothers and children whom we had met,
worked with, and loved in Calcutta. Not able to be at the beloved community gathering were two other
teammakers, translator Diya Wadwha, and Josiah Eck (18). (See JamieinCalcutta blog and the Calcutta Project
Blog for some of the experiences we shared at the gathering.)
